Brussels heads the list of cities that organize associative events in Europe, according to the Union of International Associations (UIA). One of the city's prime objectives is to meet the different demands of international federations, more than 2,000 of which have their headquarters in Brussels. In this domain, more and more projects sprout up regularly. The European Association Summit is an example of a unique initiative that provides a platform for networking within the sector. Renowned speakers present innovative and creative solutions every year at the event, which allows associations to strengthen their ties and ways of working together. The goal of visit.brussels' new Association Bureau is to further improve the support available to international associations and to consolidate the global role of the Region in the work of these associations.

Patrick Bontinck, CEO of visit.brussels: "By their presence at this year's European Association Summit, international associations once more confirmed the importance of this event. The participation was 20% higher than last year, which reflected the dynamism of this crucial sector for Brussels. We are particularly excited to be able to extend our support and our services to international associations through the new Association Bureau.»

By creating a 'one-stop shop,' a specific point of contact for international associations, the new office will help guide associations to the right resources, training and contacts to help them reach their professional objectives successfully.

The new office will also offer access to the Global Association Hubs Partnership (Brussels, Washington DC, Dubai, and Singapore), a global network that is a unique platform for international associations to deploy development strategies in other regions (see related article).

All these projects are carried out with the collaboration and continued support of the strategic partners of visit.brussels: the Federation of International Associations based in Belgium (FAIB), the Union of International Associations (UIA), the Maison des Associations Internationales (MAI) and the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE).
