The “A. Luciani” Padua Congress Centre is the most versatile and spacious event venue in the northeast of Italy: 8 meeting halls offer seats to 20-730 people, a total of 2,000 square meters of indoor congress and exhibition areas.

The Centro Congressi Padova has recently adhered to the Italian national project “Food for Good: from meetings to solidarity” set by FederCongressi&eventithe national association of companies, institutions and professionals operating in activities relating to the conferences and events sector. This association aims to represent and increase the value of conference activity and incentive events, and to promote the industry’s development as a key economic, social and cultural factor.

Do you want to find out what Food for Good is all about?

Food wastage at the end of a lunch or dinner during conventions annoys everyone involved in the organisation and they felt they were powerless to stop it. Even buffets must be plentiful and must satisfy both the eye and the stomach, the number of people attending is never certain and so, large quantities of food end up too often in the bin.

At the same time the queues of destitute people in the soup kitchens are getting longer and longer.

Waste less if you can today

Following the meeting between the Banco Alimentare  and the non-profit Equoevento, the Italians meeting professionals have discovered how to reduce food wastage in events to a minimum and give a helping hand to those who need it.

The project is simple and neither requires a great effort nor a great cost. It is carried out in compliance with legislation, thanks to the Italian law Nr. 155/2003 known as the "Law of the Good Samaritan".

What is Food for Good?

Through the Banco Alimentare and Equoevento, Centro Congressi Padova established contact between their catering manager and the non-profit organisation in the area where the event is being held, in order that the latter can arrange collection of the left-over food at the end of every lunch or dinner.

This can be carried out at no cost for the conference organiser.
