2 partners of the World PCO Alliance have recently been in the spotlight for their participation at the international level of the conferences sector.

Alliance member Nina Freysen Pretorius, CEO of South Africa-based The Conference Company, has been re-elected as president of ICCA. Freysen-Pretorius, who was re-elected in Kuching, Malaysia at the ICCA Congress and AGM, says that her focus during this term will be on ensuring that members be able to engage and benefit from their ICCA membership. Her priorities will be continuing to improve the ICCA Congress, evaluating and improving the ICCA governance model and raising the profile of the business events sector, making ICCA the go-to organization for association meetings.

Having been re-elected as the ICCA President to a second term of office is a tremendous honour and great responsibility,” says Freysen-Pretorius. “The ICCA Board of directors and team have worked tirelessly at ensuring that the key strategic goals are delivered upon and become tangible and beneficial to members.”

World PCO Alliance member Andre Vietor of Barceló Congresos was recently recognized by IAPCO for his contributions as a board member. Joining the board in 1999, Mr. Vietor held a range of positions, including president and chair of the IAPCO Training Academy, the latter having ended in February of this year.

Mr. Vietor was one of the driving forces behind IAPCO’s EDGE–Experts in Dynamic Global Education–which launched in 2015 and offers a dynamic educational seminar dedicated to professional congress organisation at general, intermediate and advanced levels in different geographical regions throughout the year.

“Passion makes the big difference in the outcome of whatever you do in life,” says Vietor, who was recognized during the IAPCO General Assembly held in Dubai this year. “I am passionate about training and education - it is part of my DNA. However, since this recognition was totally unexpected, I was overwhelmed.”

Mr. Vietor’s role in EDGE will continue, as he plans on being a part of the faculty in some of the future EDGE seminars
