MICE is Returning to Sevilla

In this unprecedented event, Sevilla Congress & Convention Bureau presented its destination in more than 500 meetings and event organizers from over 30 countries. This hybrid event was celebrated at the Cartuja Center CITE, together with the collaboration of international partners, more than 40 Sevillian companies, Turismo Andaluz and Prodetur.

For two days, Sevilla CVB implemented a set of virtual and face-to-face meetings, presenting Sevilla as a destination for congresses, meetings and events (MICE) and inviting meeting planners from around the world to connect. All of this side by side with the most relevant global players in the MICE segment.

A modern television set with an 8 x 4 meter LED screen was permanently installed at Cartuja Center CITE by the audiovisual and technology company Sono. This installation allowed online transmission via Zoom, with the physical presence of Sevillian companies. All health security measures that dictate the current rules on meetings and events have been implemented.

Both the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, through Turismo Andaluz and the Provincial Council of Sevilla, through Prodetur, have co-organized and made this event possible together with Sevilla Congress and Convention Bureau, an entity that belongs to the Chamber of Commerce of Sevilla.

As inspiration and model for these presentations, the first circumnavigation of the Earth by Magalhães and Elcano was celebrated. The goal is to stimulate the promotion towards Sevilla and the desire to return to our destination and promote face-to-face meetings and physical visits as soon as the current situation allows it.

The presentations have also made it possible to offer a technical update like the opening of hotels, singular spaces, monuments, current and suspended flights, as well as to emphasize the Biosafety measures applied by our companies and spaces to the events held there. Participants have been informed by the "Andalucía Segura" seal, issued by the Junta de Andalucía and the ¨Healthy Spaces and Events Guarantee¨ of the Chamber.

The number of connected professionals has tripled the expectations, which according to the professionals involved, has been due to the high quality of production and content of the broadcasts. The effectiveness of the event is already beginning to be noticed, as many of the connected professionals have requested the technical material on display, which will serve as an element for selling and promoting their own events.

With this action, Sevilla CVB wishes to transmit the message “return to Seville” and thus continue the growth path of the events that are celebrated in our territory, as well as promoting a historic landmark such as the 500th anniversary of the first world trip, led by Magalhães and Elcano, as inspiration for this return. This action reinforces the national and international reputation of Seville as a destination for event organizers responsible for choosing a place to host congresses, events and incentive international trips.
