The Malaysian Society of Association Executives (MSAE) recently held their 4th AGM on 15 June, 2022 and elected their new Council Members.

The re-elected President, Mr. Sunny Chee emphasized his appreciation to the past and current council members, MSAE members, and supporting stakeholders who remained committed and steadfast to sustain MSAE and its activities during the unprecedented lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Despite very difficult circumstances over the past 2.5 years, Council Members continued e-marketing activities, virtual education and advocacy initiatives in an effort to maintain prominence and drive engagement. Efforts to drive membership growth was heavily impacted during the pandemic period, and caused a major hinderance to membership recruitment.

According to the MSAE President, Sunny Chee: “Having conducted our AGM and elected our new Council Members, we are now ready to build progressive momentum during the recovery period. Associations are identifying the need to be part of a collective associations community voice, that is driving education and professional development to grow their sustainability and success. Our primary objective this year is to focus on member recruitment and to deliver membership benefits.”

He continued: “Thanks to the commitment of Council Members and the support from the Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) we have access to education initiatives and programmes that provide a recruitment platform for new membership growth, additionally deliver the membership benefits that will grow a future pool of professionals to lead, manage and advance their career in a professional national association.”

Commenting on the newly elected MSAE Council, Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB said, “On behalf of the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), we would like to congratulate MSAE on the new Council for the term 2022-2024. As the umbrella association for current and future association & not-for-profit leaders in Malaysia, MSAE provides a full suite of educational and networking opportunities that focus on the evolving trends and challenges facing the industry, which is especially crucial during a period of disruption and transition in a post-pandemic era. We are very aware of how associations continue to be challenged in a rapidly changing environment and MyCEB is looking forward to working with the new Council to look for new and better ways to capture the diverse needs of the association’s community.”

Currently the MSAE has four major pillars to grow its profile, strengthen its membership base, deliver education, and to build awareness of the importance of national associations and their role in driving collaboration with the business events industry to advance the social and economic development of Malaysia.
