2017 has been a successful year for Lebanon. Not only is the country nearing 2 million of visitors by the end of the year (11% increase from last year), the country is amongst the top 10 trending destinations for 2018. With a constant need to diversify and revitalize their offer, tourism professionals are taking a keen interest in Lebanon and rightly so.

Many professionals have already placed their trust in Lebanon with an average of 2000 incoming MICE and 1200 local events organized this year. And the interest keeps on growing…

Take a look at the highlights of the destination!

Looking back at 2017

Why not end the year on the high by looking at developments that have taken place in Lebanon?

First stop is the opening of the new RADISSON BLU HOTEL in Beirut Verdun. The hotel which was formerly the Holiday Inn Beirut Dunes has been taken over by Carlson Rezidor Group and the extensive refurbishment was unveiled this month.

Also, in May this year, WILD DISCOVERY signed its first franchise agreement set to cover Lebanon’s largest city after Beirut – Tripoli.

July welcomed the unveiling of 5* LE GRAY HOTEL’s new conference & events facilities. Right in the heart of Beirut, Le Gray Hotel now offers a new boardroom, a multi-function venue, a screening room, an exhibition and art venue and a 400 sqm banquet facility. This new extension now complements nicely the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, spa and state-of-the art gym.

2017 also marks the set-up of VISIT LEBANON, the new agency in charge of promoting Lebanon worldwide and the creation of the Lebanese Convention Bureau dedicated to business tourism and events. Both are backed by Lebanon Ministry of Tourism with the aim of making the country the go-to place for worldwide tourism professionals.

What's next? News for 2018

When life gives you new flights…

…Make the most of it! There have been great developments in the sky. Not only is Scandinavian Airlines scheduling Beirut for 2018 from Copenhagen, Air France has also announced for seasonal flights to Beirut from Both Nice and Marseille. And with two additional departures per week from Marseille to Beirut with Aigle Azur beginning in June 2018, the new year is set to make Lebanon the new trendy destination.

Get good with food

Despite being busy hosting a number of high profile conferences and congresses, the Phoenician Hotel, has had time to prepare a little surprise for us. Gastronomy is high on their agenda with cooking classes showing us the ropes of local, international and fusion cuisine. Don’t forget to pack your aprons.
