Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau today announces that the International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS) will be holding its international congress at the five-star Royal Savoy Hotel in Lausanne, 18th-21st October 2017.

Now in its 14th year, this will be the first time that the Congress has been held in Lausanne, attracting more than 500 ophthalmologists, other doctors and scientists from across the world. Running for three days, conference delegates will also attend a gala dinner at the Olympic Museum on the shores of Lake Geneva as well as a welcome reception at the Royal Savoy.

The Royal Savoy Hotel completed a major 100 million CHF (approximately $104 million USD) renovation project two years ago, adding a new spa facility, as well as upgrading seven dedicated meeting and event spaces which host up to 480 people.

Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau will support the event with a wide number of operational services, including excursion management and accommodation coordination, using the convention bureau’s bespoke hotel booking platform which optimises value for purchasers of accommodation. The optional excursions include a city tour, wine tasting in the Lavaux vineyard, a UNESCO World heritage site, and the chance to tour the castle of Gruyères.

Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau will also be responsible for managing abstract handling and the call for papers, in addition to registration and accreditation at the congress. Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau has also developed a dedicated networking app for the congress which will keep participants connected before, during and after the event.

Carl P. Herbort Jr, MD, Founding Member of the International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS) and Organiser of the Worldwide 2017 IOIS Inflammation Congress, comments: “The International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS) is the largest society worldwide dealing with the ocular inflammation and this year we are thrilled to be hosting our bi-annual congress in Lausanne. We chose the destination as it offers a wide variety of venues and attractions, allowing all our guests to enjoy an unforgettable experience in a truly breathtaking location. So far we have really enjoyed working with Lausanne Tourism & Convention Bureau as we prepare for the congress and we are looking forward to a successful congress.”

Gerald Howard, Senior Business Development Manager at Lausanne Tourism and Convention Bureau, says: “The IOIS Congress is the seventh medical related conference which Lausanne has hosted over the last year, reaffirming our credentials as the ideal location for international events in this specialist sector. The prestigious Royal Savoy offers some exceptional meeting and event spaces in the heart of Lausanne, and the world famous Olympic Museum will offer delegates the perfect environment to recharge their batteries and network informally.”
