Juan José García, Chief Marketing Officer of Bco Congresos, is running for President of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). The election result will be announced on 11th of November at the 57th ICCA Congress in Dubai.

Juan José GarcíaJuan José has served at the ICCA Board of Directors for 10 years, firstly as Geographic Representative for Europe (2009 - 2016), followed by his term as Co‑chair of the Meetings Management Sector (2016 - 2018). Furthermore, he has been elected by Arnaldo Nardone and Nina Freysen-Pretorius, the last two ICCA Presidents, to serve as 1st Vice President (2010 - 2018) and Treasurer (2010 - 2017), positions that entitled him to be part of the ICCA Management Finance Committee (MFC) for the last 8 years.

Being given the opportunity to take up these roles is not only a sign of recognition of his active leadership role and strong commitment to ICCA, but it has also allowed Juan José to gain profound knowledge and insight into all ICCA matters of concern.

ICCA represents the world's leading suppliers in handling, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events, and now comprises over 1,100 member companies and organisations in almost 100 countries worldwide. Since its establishment 55 years ago, ICCA specialises in the international association meetings sector, offering unrivalled data, communication channels, and business development opportunities.

Juan José’s vision on ICCA’s future challenges and opportunities is to detect and anticipate industry solutions towards the growing demands of association clients in a fast changing environment affected by globalisation, technology and communication.

The slogan of his presidential campaign “The best is yet to come” clearly summarises his approach and objectives, based on providing added value to ICCA members across all sectors. For this aim, Juan José plans the implementation of fresh ideas, such as the creation of a ICCA Congress Lab, the introduction of an a la carte research programme for members or the development of a new B2B platform with the objective of facilitating business opportunities between ICCA members. In essence, Juan José continues his actions and projects with a similar vein, which will certainly strengthen the position of ICCA as the most relevant association in the meetings tourism sector worldwide.
