International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has taken home a sweep of awards at the Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence, including Best Corporate Citizen, Best Venue Team; Sibos 2018 and the Richard Geddes Young Achiever, which was awarded to team member Aiden Hippensteel.
Held Thursday night, the national industry awards celebrate the exceptional work of organisers, association organisers, venues and suppliers in the exhibition and events industry.
CEO of ICC Sydney, Geoff Donaghy said the venue’s achievements are reflective of its commitment to the community as well as the exceptionally talented team behind every event delivery.
“To be honoured with three national accolades as we faced the best-of-the-best in our industry from around the country is a fantastic achievement for our venue and the team.
“ICC Sydney is committed to operating in a socially responsible and environmentally sound manner. Our industry-leading Legacy Program has been embraced by clients and continues to grow from strength to strength with its positive impacts felt across our community.
“Five years of planning and preparation went into our delivery of one of the most successful Sibos' events on record and the team’s execution of the event was truly world class. This multifaceted event was one of the most complex we had ever delivered and to have done this in only our second year of operation is truly extraordinary.
“Our team members are at the heart of our world class operations and Aiden’s recognition is a reflection of our collaborative and supportive culture that is committed to creating careers and not just jobs. This award is a testament to his strong work ethic and the passion he brings to every event.
“We also congratulate all of our peers on their EEAA award successes.”
Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia CEO Joyce DiMascio congratulated ICC Sydney on its three award wins.
“Our judges commended the outstanding work of ICC Sydney and the benchmarks its people are setting across its operations. Congratulations to ICC Sydney and the entire team on receiving three national accolades at our Awards for Excellence.
“Our members and the industry have watched the venue go from strength to strength since it opened almost three years ago. It’s wonderful to see this recognised by industry peers through our rigorous judging process.
“Their approach to giving back to the community and their calibre of event delivery is setting new standards and best practice benchmarks in Australia and internationally. Bravo ICC Sydney.”
