IBTM has today announced Sciensio as the winner of its IBTM World Tech Watch Award. The overall winner and three category winners were announced at IBTM World 2017, taking place this week at Fira Barcelona from 28-30 November.

Sciensio was judged the overall winner for its Concierge Eventbot, winning the Audience Engagement category. The other two category winners were SharedXP Limited in the Logistics and Production category and Conference Pulse in the Management and Marketing category.

Sciensio is an emerging technology supplier that helps businesses develop and deploy messaging platform strategies to improve customer interaction and help build relationships with their stakeholders. The company’s Concierge EventBot is a chatbot that has been specifically developed for events, enabling event organisers to easily share information and logistics with their attendees in a valuable and accessible way.

Corbin Ball, Chair of IBTM World Technology and Innovation Watch Judging Committee, said: “We had an incredibly strong field of entries this year, making it a challenging task to decide on the winner. Sciensio and its Concierge Eventbot has proven great tenacity and innovation in helping the events industry stay ahead of the curve with regards to effective customer engagement, sitting at the heart of every successful business in this industry and beyond. Sciensio and its Concierge Eventbot highlight two important event tech trends: the emergence of artificial intelligence to provide better and more efficient services to attendees in the form of chatbots - a direct and very useful means of providing event information.”

The panel of judges was formed of high-profile influencers in the events and technology industries, including Michelle Bruno, President of Bruno Group Signature Events; Dahlia El Gazzar, Founder of DAHLIA+ Inc; Ruud Janssen, Founder of TNOC.org and co-founder EMG; Pádraic Gilligan, Managing Partner at SoolNua; Paul Hussey, Director of The Conference Doctor and Julius Solaris, Founder and Editor of Event MB.

Kerry Prince, Portfolio Director, IBTM, said: “Technology plays a pivotal role in the evolution of the MICE industry and we’re delighted to have a very strong platform to showcase this, with our Innovation Zone. We’re in a great position to recognise and support businesses with technological innovations and services that have a real benefit to the meetings and events industry.”

The Tech Watch Award is the industry’s longest-standing award of its kind, and is extremely well recognised across the MICE industry, thanks to the exposure the winners receive during and post the event, as well as its high-profile panel of judges.
