GainingEdge is providing pre-opening support to Ōtākaro Limited ahead of the opening of the Christchurch Convention and Exhibition Centre (CCEC). With capacity for up to 2000 delegates and 28,000m2 of flexible floor space, the Christchurch and Exhibition Convention Centre will feature a 1400-seat auditorium, a 200-booth exhibition hall and 24 meeting rooms. More than 20 future events have already been confirmed for the venue.

With construction of the CCEC on track for completion early in 2020, Crown company Ōtākaro Limited is looking to partner with an experienced venue operator to run this world-class facility. Ōtākaro Limited Chief Executive Albert Brantley said: “We are now looking for an operator that can make the visitor experience of the Convention Centre as impressive as the scenery and activities that will attract conferences to Christchurch and the South Island.

“With the design of the facility now complete, construction underway and the marketing effort increasing, the time has come for operators with world-class venue and event management skills to put their hand up to run the centre day to day,” says Mr Brantley.

Ōtākaro has issued a Request for Proposals and expects to appoint an operator before the end of the year.

Interested parties can contact Jenna Serfontein from Ōtākaro Limited if they have any enquiries.
