On 15th June 2018 the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE) held its Annual General Assembly Meeting in Brussels. ESAE President, Florence Bindelle (European Issuers), presented the report of activities 2017 and the priorities for 2018. She expressed her deepest thank to the fellow Board members for their commitment and support during the year.
She commented that over the years ESAE has become a valuable opportunity for associations to do business, meet friends and colleagues, network and most importantly, expand learnings and professional education. Bindelle also reminded the three priorities of ESAE:
“At ESAE, we believe that your association plays an essential role in European society and policy-making. We aim to help you strengthen the important role of the sector and its people. We do this through networking, education, advocacy and community-building activities. Throughout the year, as an ESAE member, you enjoyed varied opportunities to learn and exchange insights with other association executives across the continent through a range of events, seminars, networking initiatives and educational activities.” she said.
She called members to engage more in the ESAE committees:
She stressed the importance of the Master in Associations Executives programme developed with Solvay Business School and commented that the Education task force chaired by Beatrice Richez-Baum, ecoDa was considering further developments in that area.
The AGM recorded the end of mandates or resignations of Benita Lipps (INTEREL), Alec Walker-Love (ESCI), Roberto Zangrandi (EDSO) and Philip Springuel (WLA), and elected Maria Rosa Gibellini (EIF), Stylianos Filopoulos (WIM), Dirk Bochar (FEANI) and Attilio Caligiani (WIA) as new Board members. Florence Bindelle and Pascale Vandenbussche (ECIIA) were elected for another term respectively as president and treasurer. Giuseppe Marletta (AIJA), was elected as Vice President of ESAE. He said "The reason why I joined ESAE is that there are 3.000 associations in Brussels and ESAE should do its best to involve them.
