BestCities Global Alliance is making its final call to all senior international association executives interested in enhancing their personal expertise and maximising positive impact of their events, by applying for one of the remaining places at the annual BestCities Global Forum, to be held in Tokyo this December.

The Alliance is offering to host delegates on a trip to the culture rich city of Tokyo – one of the BestCities partners – to join a wide range of prestigious global associations in a landmark programme centred on the theme of Building Global Connections Across Cultures.

Set to champion inclusivity and multi-culturalism within the business tourism industry in 2018 and beyond, attendees will discover inspiring case studies, hear from thought-provoking speakers and grow relationships with like-minded peers from around the world. Organisations already confirmed for the Global Forum include International Federation of Airline Pilots' Associations, International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, Women Deliver and World Veterinary Association.

Running from the 4-7 December, delegates will be staying at the stunning Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, a luxury garden oasis in the heart of Japan’s busy capital. The immersive four-day programme will take them on a journey through the theme of cultural collaboration; addressing the challenges and opportunities it presents.

A diverse programme of workshops and informative sessions, delegates will kick-start the week learning about cultural management and intelligence, while looking at ways of establishing purposeful meetings, with concepts like Cathedral Thinking. Topics including Cities of Today and Tomorrow and Why We Love Cities will be covered, along with learnings on Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions Theory. The carefully curated programme will give delegates the opportunity to develop meaningful, practical skills they can apply to their day to day work back home and future events.

As a natural networking opportunity, guests will get to know local stakeholders along with the 12 BestCities partner destinations (Berlin, Bogotá, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Dubai, Edinburgh, Houston, Madrid, Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo and Vancouver) during an interactive session that will unlock their collective knowledge.

The Forum will also give delegates the opportunity to delve into the workings of an international destination alliance and discover the ways in which this can benefit their planning and events. From gaining access to a global network and the transparent knowledge sharing between partner cities helping associations create bigger, better and more impactful meetings.

The second BestCities Global Forum builds on the 100% delegate success ratings from Dubai 2016. Hosted in partnership with the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB), delegates will take advantage of this year’s host destination as they experience Tokyo as a local. Various cultural activities have been incorporated into the programme to give attendees the opportunity to explore Japan’s unique and intriguing heritage. Optional visits to venues will also be available to allow participants the opportunity to gather insights on the city and its institutions.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to further establish relationships with peers and grow global networks at the annual Ambassador Dinner, which will see influential local ambassadors and key contacts in attendance.

BestCities Managing Director, Paul Vallee said: “The BestCities Global Forum is our gold-star event and we’re thrilled to be welcoming such a prestigious and diverse range of senior association executives to this year’s programme.  Across the four-days we will present delegates with unique and engaging seminars and workshops that will truly expand their knowledge, relationships and understanding of the events industry.

“This is a must-attend event for association executives, and we’re eager to see who makes up the final places. With the Forum just over two months away we’re anticipating an influx of registrations so would urge anyone who’s interested to do so now.”

Kazuko Toda, Director from Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau said:

“We are excited and honoured to be hosting the second BestCities Global Forum this December. We believe that the Forum will become a great learning opportunity as well as a networking opportunity for our guests from global associations and our partner cities. We are in good preparations for making everyone’s stay in Tokyo a memorable one, full of authentic experiences and fine gourmet. We believe every guest will have something to take back home after the four-day program, including the understanding of the unique Japanese culture and different cultures among the 12 cities.”

Sean Blair, Global Forum Facilitator and owner of ProMeet, said: “The Best Cities Global Forum brings together senior leaders of global associations. Together we’ll learn, share knowledge and build bridges across cultures to advance the cause of global gatherings.

“It's going to be a brilliant time and space to reflect, exchange and build powerful alliances and networks. I can't wait to get to Tokyo in December and begin the journey.”

Registration for the BestCities Global Forum is open now. Free to attend, with round-trip flights, accommodation and meals for all attending qualified international association executives covered by BestCities.
