In the first edition of its awards for sustainable tourism, Turisme de Barcelona Consortium awarded the prize to the CCIB for its promotion of the social football school of the Trinijove Foundation.
During the Business with Social Value meeting, organized by the Barcelona Sustainable Tourism Program with the participation of Turisme de Barcelona, the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB) has been recognized with the first Barcelona Sustainable Tourism award for Best Practices in Social Sustainability.
CCIB Managing Director Marc Rodríguez wanted to "highlight the commendable work carried out by Trinijove and express the firm commitment of the CCIB to its social environment and to projects aimed at improving the quality of life of those who need it most". Among other actions, its membership in Barcelona Forum District, of which it is a co-founder member, has been the platform to increase collaborations with other entities focused on promoting work and social inclusion, education and culture.
The jury has awarded this distinction to the CCIB for its support of the nine inclusive football teams from Barcelona northern area. Formed by 120 young people aged between 6 and 23 and belonging to families at risk of social exclusion, the project aims to promote among these boys and girls values such as responsibility, respect, friendship, commitment, solidarity and teamwork between partners and competitors through the practice of sports. In addition to personal growth, the ultimate goal of this initiative is to transform the social environment in which they live.
Supported by the Union of International Associations (UIA), the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) and the Interel Group, the global public affairs and association management consultancy, Headquarters Magazines serve the needs of international associations organising worldwide congresses.
