While the pandemic has crippled many industries especially the hospitality and events sector, the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) continues to assist in the rejuvenation of the tourism and business events industry with the 5th edition of its homegrown conference, BE @ Penang 2020.

Headlining this year’s online conference is Professor Eddy Obeng, a thought leader and a British educator who is recognised for his success in New World Management. Making him a prominent figure is his creation of QUBE, the world's first Super Reality avatar-based campus, his teachings on QUBE offer an integrated management approach for our fast-changing, uncertain New World, whilst allowing global clients to link learning and implementation easily.

Transforming fully virtual from 10 – 11 December, BE @ Penang 2020 is expected to be a bolder edition with the mission to BE INEVITABLE. The theme acts as a call to action to the business events industry partners to be a force to be reckoned with especially in the face of this pandemic.

This year’s programme is filled with thought-provoking topics that will assist attendees in their process of rejuvenation within the tourism and business events industry, especially deeper insights on the use of technology and the future of association meetings and incentive travel.

To further enhance the online experience for delegates, there will also be special sessions by PCEB partners namely forest bathing conducted by The Habitat Penang Hill and a Spice Workshop by Tropical Spice Garden.

“I hope that BE @ Penang 2020 will end the year on a positive note with additional useful perspectives and ideas for our industry partners and other relevant industry players while we continue to keep up the rejuvenation momentum,” said Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of PCEB.

“Penang, as all other destinations, has been hit hard but I have also noticed the business events industry’s united front and resolution in looking for avenues to aid in the industry’s recovery efforts. This is to be appreciated as business events is an important contributor to the economy,” commended The Rt. Honourable Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang in his opening speech.

“While Penang continues to prepare itself to welcome back international visitors, we are also working hard to also build on domestic travel by the constant fight to curb the COVID-19 cases and successfully establishing more ‘green travel bubbles’ to Green Zone areas in Malaysia”, said The Hon. Yeoh Soon Hin, PCEB Chairman and Penang State Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy.

Registration is open here  with a fee of only RM 50 and all proceeds with be directed to CSR programmes by PCEB.
